  3. Part – A consists of 20 Multiple Choice Questions of 1 mark and have tobe answered in OMR. Part-B consists of descriptive questions of 50 marks.

Jim corbett National Park is the oldest national park in India. It was established in 1936 as Hailey National Park to protect the endangered Bengal tiger. The Park is named after Jim corbett who played an important role in its establishment. It is situated in Ramnagar in the district of Nainital, Uttarakhand. The Present area of the reserve is 1,318.54 square kilometres, including 520 square kilometres of core area and 797.72 square kilometres of buffer area. The Altitude of the region ranges between 360 m and 1049 m. The Area has numerous ridges ravines, minor streams and small plateaus with different degrees of slope and a large lake. The weather in the park is temperate with winter temperatures ranging from 5 to 30° C and some foggy mornings. Summer temperatures houer around 40° C with light rainfall during the dry season but heavy during the mansoons.

Jim corbett National Park was in 1974, the location for launching Project Tiger – a well known wild- life conservation project. It is one of the thirteen protected areas covered by the world wide fund for nature under their Terai Arc Landscape Programme and aims to protect three species the tiger, the Asian elephants and the one horned rhinoceros.
